Recycling

| Print |

Respecting ecologic and economic criteria, we intend to dispose of photovoltaic systems and recycle them optimally.

Photovoltaic modules have been developed to generate clean and renewable energy over a longer service life. The first large systems have been available since the early 90s and the generation of current from solar energy is continuing to increase significantly.

This is why major quantities of photovoltaic systems will have to be disposed of in future. At the moment, the number of modules to be disposed of is still quite low; however, suitable disposal procedures are interesting already today.

Recycling processes for thin-film and silicon modules do already exist. Accordingly, valuable materials such as glass, aluminum, and semiconductor materials can be recycled.

We offer a voluntary take-back and recycling program for used modules to our customers.

We organize the return transport of the individual components. We pay the accruing packaging, transport, and recycling costs. In order to allow a smooth course, you just disassemble and pack the modules. Information on the installation sites of photovoltaic systems is collected in a central database in order to be able to estimate the future take-back costs. For this purpose GelsenPV has an escrow account in which the required financial means are deposited in order to be able to cover the presumable costs for the take-back and recycling.

The recycling is not only environmentally friendly by avoiding waste, but also contributes to the reduction of energy required for the provision of raw materials and thus reduces costs and influences on the environment. In this way, sustainability of the photovoltaic technology is also ensured regarding used modules.
